H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco welcomed cyclists today completing an epic 1,100km bike ride, arriving at the Palace after journeying through seven different countries, raising money and awareness for ocean conservation charity, Blue Marine Foundation.

The “London to Monaco” bike ride, co-founded with Winch design in 2016, set off at London’s Somerset House eight days ago with a guest appearance from Blue Marine ambassador, Lady Amelia Windsor, having already raised over £100,000 for the charity. The 100+ cyclists hope to have reached a combined target of £150,000 raised funds by the end of the endurance challenge.

After a champagne arrival at the palace of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, there was a celebrated handover of a bespoke Blue Marine Electric MOKE, gifted by Peter Lürssen to The Prince. The ocean-inspired Blue Marine Electric MOKE was exclusively custom-designed by Steve Edge and manufactured in the UK by MOKE International, the world’s first and only heritage brand to go fully electric, and partners of Blue Marine.

On Thursday, during Monaco Yacht Show, Blue Marine Yacht Club (BMYC) and the club’s founding patron, Prince Albert II, will host an exclusive event onboard the beautiful Lürssen superyacht, Phoenix ², designed by Winch Design. Both Lürssen and Winch Design are long-standing partners of Blue Marine.

Attendees will have the chance to donate to support Blue Marine’s global portfolio of projects, bid on an array of unique auction items, become a long standing BMYC member and have the first opportunity to purchase one of only 30 electric, limited edition Blue Marine 30 x 30 MOKEs.

Following the success of the inaugural auction last year, during which the original Blue Marine Electric limited MOKE was bought by Peter Lürssen for @250,000 and immediately gifted to The Prince, Blue Marine, Steve Edge and MOKE International have teamed up again to create the special ‘Blue Marine 30 x 30 MOKE’ in support of Blue Marine’s mission to protect 30 per cent of the world’s ocean by 2030.

A donation of £10,000 will be made to Blue Marine from the sale of each car. The latest edition – limited to only 30 cars – will be exclusively available to guests at this year’s Blue Marine Yacht Club Monaco event, as a pre-launch sale.

H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco said, “The London to Monaco cycle ride is a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness on the necessity to protect our fragile oceans.”

Sara-Jane Skinner, Head of Partnerships at Blue Marine said, “Each year we are overwhelmed by both the support and fortitude of individuals and corporate partners who take part in this ride. The funds go a long way to providing a better future for the ocean, working towards Blue Marine’s ambition to see 30 per cent of the ocean highly protected by 2030, so that the ocean might safeguard our future in return.”

Winch Design said, “Winch Design is proud to be the founding partner of the L2M event. Our collective love of the ocean drives what we do daily, and our projects are designed with nature in mind. We want to ensure that not only do our oceans remain bountiful and beautiful, but that they are able to continue to support our expanding population and delicate ecosystems.”

Robin Kennedy, Chief Commercial Officer at MOKE said: “MOKE is proud to have Blue Marine Foundation as its dedicated charity partner. These Electric MOKEs are at home when next to crystal clear waters and golden beaches. We’re delighted to be doing what we can to protect them and keep the ocean clean.”
