Blue Marine Yacht Club Monaco Auction and Raffle 2024   

 

In aid of Blue Marine’s mission to protect and restore the world’s oceans and reach at least 30 per cent protection by 2030, Blue Marine Yacht Club is hosting an exclusive capsule ocean-inspired auction and raffle to raise vital funds to help achieve its goals.

Each Lot has been carefully curated, designed and made by our partners, to offer you bespoke ‘money can’t buy’ items and experiences. The live auction and raffle will be conducted by Sotheby’s UK Chairman and Auctioneer, Harry Dalmeny, and will take place on the evening of Wednesday 25 September, at 8.45pm CET (7.45pm UK time) at the annual Blue Marine Yacht Club event in Monaco.

The Auction

 

Lot #1

Title: Ocean-inspired helmet worn by F1 driver Valtteri Bottas in the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix, signed by H.S.H Prince Albert II of Monaco and Valtteri Bottas, and designed by Tiffany Cromwell. 

 

Description: This special ocean-inspired helmet exclusively designed by Tiffany Cromwell, was worn by Valtteri Bottas in the Monaco GP this year, to highlight and support the work of both Blue Marine Foundation and Foundation Prince Albert II de Monaco, on protecting the stunning biodiversity and fragile ecosystems of the Mediterranean. The helmet has been autographed by both Valtteri Bottas and H.S.H Prince Albert II of Monaco. Money from this Lot will be evenly split between Blue Marine Foundation and Foundation Prince Albert II de Monaco to support their global efforts to restore and protect the world’s oceans and marine life.

Lot #2

Title: An Exclusive, Tailor-Made Trip to the Jewel of the South Atlantic, St. Helena, for two. 

 

Description: This is more than just a trip; it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore the untamed beauty and rich history of St. Helena, witnessing one of Blue Marine’s most remote projects, creating memories that will last forever. Your adventure will take you to South Africa before flying on to St. Helena for a seven-night stay in comfort and serenity, exploring the island and swimming with Whale Sharks, the gentle giants of the South Atlantic. You will also enjoy unique dining experiences and delve into the rich heritage of the island, visiting, of course, the final residence of Napoleon Bonaparte.

Terms and Conditions: Booking must be made in consultation with Steppes Travel. Travel must take place between beginning December 2024 and end December 2025. It should be noted that bookings are subject to availability and that early consultation and planning are advised. The prize package is as advertised, and no cash alternatives are available. Where any elements of the prize are not required i.e. international flights, a donation equivalent to cost will be made by Steppes Travel to Blue Marine Foundation. Additional activities to be arranged via Steppes Travel and the St Helena Tourist Board.

Lot #3

Title: Tara and the Dolphin Pendant, handcrafted from ancient coin set in 18k yellow gold with aquamarine gemstones. 

 

Description:This exquisite, hand-crafted pendant, titled Taras and the Dolphin, is a unique creation by DUBINI, meticulously made in Rome from an ancient coin set in 18k yellow gold, adorned with aquamarine gemstones. The centrepiece of this one-of-a-kind piece is a stater coin, minted around 272-240 B.C., which features the mythic figure Taras, son of Poseidon, riding a dolphin. Steeped in maritime legend, Taras was believed to have been saved by a dolphin after being lost at sea, an act that led to the founding of the ancient city of Taras (modern-day Taranto). This coin, struck under the rule of the philosopher Archytas, is celebrated for its exceptional design and profound historical significance.

Minted: Calabria, Stater, ca. 272-240 BC, Tarentum, Silver.

Obverse: Taras on dolphin left, holding trident and Nike who crowns him; bunch of grapes behind.

Reverse: Naked youth crowning a horse standing to left, lifting its foreleg.

Lot #4

Title: Jake Chapman - Portrait for Pleasure and Profit  

 

Description: Bid on this unique Lot and the artist will either visit you at your home (if based in London) or invite you to his studio in Gloucestershire in the UK for a special afternoon of chats whilst you sit for your portrait painting. 

Terms and Conditions: Total duration 4 hours. If you cannot sit in person for your portrait the artist is happy to work with a photograph. Dimensions of final painting, variable.

Lot #5

Title: His & Hers, ocean-themed wetsuits exclusively designed by Steve Edge and made by WALLIEN. Plus 1-1 surf lesson with Australian World Pro Surfer and Blue Marine Ambassador, Nikki van Dijk.

 

Description:  Two genuinely unique one-off wetsuits designed by Steve Edge Design, completely custom made to your body dimensions. Plus, an exclusive meet & greet and a private surf lesson with world-renowned pro surfer Nikki van Dijk, and a Collector’s Item Surfboard used by and donated by Nikki van Dijk. Nikki will donate one of her favourite surfboards that she used during her impressive career on the World Surf Tour.

Terms and Conditions: WALLIEN will produce wetsuits based on the buyer’s body measurements. The wetsuits can be shipped to all EU countries, UK, Australia, and the USA. Shipment to other countries is possible but could result in additional shipment costs and / or import duties for the buyer. 

Nikki van Dijk has agreed to provide a surf lesson when she is in Europe for a surf event or competition. She will invite the winners to the event, introduce them to surfing, and provide a lesson at a suitable location. Please note that surfing requires specific weather and wave conditions. Although the winner will be invited to aappropriate European surf location, weather conditions are unpredictable. The costs and travel arrangements for the meet & greet + surf lesson are at the buyer’s expense.

Terms and Conditions: The Four Seasons Yacht voyage is date specific, and one voyage must be selected from the list below. Your yacht fare includes one suite in our Seaview category for a maximum of two guests; onboard gratuities/service fees (excluding salon services and spa treatments); taxes and fees; breakfast; a selection of non-alcoholic beverages in certain venues onboard; onboard marina watersports; and Wi-Fi. The Four Seasons Yachts fare does not include airfare, hotel accommodations, transfers, lunch or dinner, alcoholic beverages, meals ashore, salon services, spa treatments, personal purchases from the boutique, or anything else not listed in the above inclusions.     

 

Lot #7

Title: Tribute to the Ocean 1 – a bespoke multifunctional artwork by David Shilling.

 

Description: Tribute to the Ocean 1 is a multi-disciplinary artwork, inspired by David’s passion for the planet and the ocean, to be unveiled for the first time on the evening of the Blue Marine Yacht Club Monaco Auction.

The world’s first skimboard hat is a beautiful ocean-inspired, hand-crafted piece, donated by celebrated artist and designer David Shilling. It is ready to be worn, to ride the waves, to be displayed either on its especially crafted pedestal or hung on the wall.

David has re-imagined this 100% wood skim board to achieve a luxurious and contemporary yet timeless art piece that celebrates the marine world and hope for the future.

The board is painted with matte & brilliant black and 22 Carat gold. The pedestal on which it can be displayed is adorned with white and black pearls, a couple of tiny black diamonds and gold nuggets.

100% of funds raised from this lot will go to support Blue Marine Foundation and Prince Albert II of Monaco’s Foundation.

Terms & Conditions: Delivery of Tribute to the Ocean 1 is included for Monaco and UK and the artist will personally make sure the hat is fitted for the collector.

The Lot includes the hat which incorporates a 100% wood skim board, which is on its own display stand. Also a limited edition CD of David Shilling’s latest song  ‘Surf’ with video and a USB key with a selection of David Shilling songs to enjoy whilst at sea.

Lot #8

Title: Bespoke One Week Work Experience at Blue Marine – Pay it Forward. 

 

Description: A specially curated, bespoke work experience week with Blue Marine for one, which includes a ‘paying it forward’ placement for another aspiring marine conservationist who might otherwise not have the opportunity. The week includes an opportunity to get involved on a restoration project field trip, plus a full immersion into the ins and outs of Blue Marine tailored around their interests; these four days will be based in Somerset House, London. 

Suitable for 16–25-year-olds interested in marine conservation, based in or with easy access to London. A Blue Hamper of merchandise including a t-shirt, cap, and a Charles Clover book will be included.

Terms & Conditions: This prize includes five days of work experience for a 16–25-year-old, either London based or able to access London easily. Must be in full time education. Four days will be based in Somerset House, and one day will be a UK field trip. Reasonable expenses (travel and food) will be covered for the work experience individual, plus paid forward for another aspiring marine conservationist who might otherwise not have the opportunity. 

If you live outside of the UK, it is your responsibility to make sure you can volunteer while in the UK. In general, if you’re from the European Union or European Economic Area you’re able to volunteer. However, you should always check the conditions of your visa. If you have any doubts or questions, contact UK Visas and Immigration.

Title: Ocean themed one-of-a-kind marquetry Backgammon set by Alexandra Llewellyn.

 

Description: There is magic at play in this beautiful bespoke Blue Marine marquetry backgammon set by Alexandra Llewellyn developed with creative direction from Steve Edge Design. A one-of-a-kind, this luxury board game and modern heirloom, is entirely handmade by British artisans. Crafted using an incredible array of sustainable materials, this extraordinary work of art celebrates the tropical coral reefs and British kelp forests.
